What will I experience in Worship at Second Presbyterian Church?
A loving church family made up of people of all ages.
Worship that is traditional and filled with joy.
A lesson from the Bible that will relate to your everyday life.
A coffee hour with snacks in our dining room following the service to which all are welcome.
But most of all a Warm Welcome
What to Wear?
We know this is often the first question people coming to worship for the first time want to know.
Our church family varies greatly in what they wear to church. There is not an expectation of a certain style of dress. You will see some in suits and ties or dresses and others in much more casual clothing. Our main desire is that you be comfortable in whatever you choose to wear.
What do I do with my kids?
We at Second Presbyterian Church believe that worship is best when all of God’s children (young and old) are together to praise God.
At the front of our sanctuary is a “pray”ground – low tables for children to sit at with age appropriate materials to help them to engage in worship. Parents may sit in the pew right behind their children to guide them through the worship experience.
We also know that sometimes, it can be hard for the littlest children to stay in the sanctuary for the whole service, if you need to step out, there is a live stream of the service in our dining room downstairs.
Elementary-aged children are invited to our Sunday School class following the Time with Young Disciples on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Sunday of each month. The Children are led from the sanctuary by their teacher for the day and can be picked up after service in the Sunday School rooms. An Usher or Greeter can show you the way.
The first Sunday of each month is Family Worship Sunday; all children remain in the sanctuary for the entire service on that day.
On Fifth Sunday, the children and youth help lead the congregation in worship. All young people are invited to participate in whatever way they feel comfortable. Reach out to Pastor Lanie if your child or youth would like to take part.
Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month. All who want to seek after Jesus are welcome to partake. We most often serve communion to worshippers in their seats. We serve gluten free bread and grape juice. Children are also welcome to partake as their parents see fit.
