Virtual Worship - 4/26/20

Developing 2020 Vision - Acts 3:1-10

Welcome to virtual worship for Second Presbyterian Church.

You are invited to gather everyone in your household (pets counts too!) to sit around your computer, tablet, phone, or TV and worship God together. If at all possible for you to do this around 10:00 on Sunday morning, that would be wonderful so we can know that we are worshiping together even though we can’t be together physically. You can follow along with the script – when a video is present, just click on it to listen or even sing along. I have found two song choices for each “hymn” a more traditional organ led music is the first (or on the left) and a more contemporary version or song is the second (or on the right). Choose what is best for you or even listen to both if you prefer.

Let us come together (in spirit) and worship God!

One: Sing a new song to the Lord, who has worked wonders,
whose right hand and holy arm have brought salvation.

All: The Lord has made known salvation; has shown justice to the nations; has remembered truth and love for the house of Israel.

One: All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

All: Shout to the Lord, all the earth, sing out your joy.

One: Sing psalms to the Lord with the harp, with the sound of music.

All: With trumpets and the sound of the horn acclaim the King, the Lord.

HYMN – Blessed Assurance or Psalm 23 (I Am Not Alone)

One: We cannot come before God
unless we are first honest with ourselves
about who we are,
about the mistakes we make,
and about how well or poorly we care for others. In this spirit, let us offer our prayers to God.

All: Merciful God,
for the things we have done that we regret, forgive us;
for the things we have failed to do that we regret, forgive us;
for all the times we have acted without love, forgive us;
for all the times we have reacted without thought, forgive us;
for all the times we have withdrawn care, forgive us;
for all the times we have failed to forgive, forgive us.
For hurtful words said and helpful words unsaid, for unfinished tasks
and unfulfilled hopes,
God of all time,
forgive us and help us
to lay down our burden of regret. Amen.

Who is in a position to condemn?
Only Christ,
and Christ came for us, Christ lived for us,
Christ died for us, Christ rose for us,
Christ reigns in power for us, Christ prays for us.
Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation.
The old life has gone; a new life has begun.

Hear and believe the good news of the Gospel: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Hallelujah! Amen!

May the words of our mouths and the meditations of our heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, our rock and our redeemer.

HYMN – Lead On, O King Eternal or Praise You In This Storm
