Why Worship? Job 1

Welcome to virtual worship for Second Presbyterian Church.

You are invited to gather everyone in your household (pets counts too!) to sit around your computer, tablet, phone, or TV and worship God together. If at all possible for you to do this around 10:00 on Sunday morning, that would be wonderful so we can know that we are worshiping together even though we can’t be together physically. You can follow along with the script – when a video is present, just click on it to listen or even sing along. I have found two song choices for each “hymn” a more traditional organ led music is the first (or on the left) and a more contemporary version or song is the second (or on the right). Choose what is best for you or even listen to both if you prefer.

Virtual Pew Pad

Please let us know that you are worshiping with us this week.

Let us come together (in spirit) and worship God!

One: In the midst of struggle and strife, God is with us.

All: Praise be to God for God’s steadfast presence.

One: Even though many things in life hurt and disappoint us, God is with us.

All: We seek God’s mercy and grace to heal our wounded souls.

One: Come, bring your needs and wants to God, for God will hear your cries and restore your souls.

All: Praise be to God for mercy, peace, and hope. AMEN.

HYMN – All People That on Earth Do Dwell or 10,000 Reasons

One: Trusting in God’s love and grace let us join our hearts and confess our sins.

All: God of steadfast love,
we have ignored your many gifts;
we have forgotten to give thanks in all things.
We have taken for granted the air we breathe,
the food that nourishes our bodies,
even the love of family and friends.
We have forgotten that all these gifts
come from you.
We have sinned with our lips and in our hearts.

Forgive our selfish ways,
and turn our hearts to you.

One: Even before we ask, God promises to redeem us and forgive us. In God’s abundant grace, our feet stand on level ground and we are clothed in honor and glory. Hear and Believe the Good News of the Gospel – in Jesus Christ We are Forgiven.

All: Hallelujah! Amen.

All: Our Lord and our God, now as we hear your word, fill us with your Spirit. Soften our hearts that we may delight in your presence. Sharpen our minds that we may discern your truth. Shape our wills that we may desire your ways. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
