Souper Bowl Sunday

Our Food Pantry is in need of soup. Any kind of soup. While our Food Pantry Network has been able to obtain soup in limited quantities, at this time of year the demand for soup increases significantly.

On “Souper Bowl” Sunday, we will again have tables set up in the Narthex representing the two teams in the game later that day. Please place your soup on the table of the team you hope wins the game. If you don’t care who wins we will divide your donations equally between the two teams. We hope to have some youth available who will help you unload your vehicle if you need assistance brining your soup into the church. If you prefer, we will happily accept donations for soup and we will purchase it as needed. All of these donations, either soup or financial support to purchase soup, count towards Second Presbyterian participation in Operation Feed, the Food Pantry Network’s major fundraising event of the year.

As an added bonus, Pastor Todd is again sponsoring the Soup tasting contest that has been so successful. Let’s see if anyone can take the famous trophy from the current holder, two-time winner Beth Barker. You may bring your soup in a crock pot or some other means of keeping it hot so everyone will be able to sample and judge all the soups equally. There are plenty of electrical outlets available on the kitchen side of the pass-through counter.
